Maja Kaurin is hosting a colour workshop Colourscapes on Saturday, the 13th of September, at PLEK Brussels and Brussels Botanical Garden, from 14h to 18h.
The workshop is part of the Exhibition Collective Roots: Innerscapes of Healing, on view at PLEK Brussels until 21 September 2025.
The workshop combines the restorative power of walking with observation and creative exploration.
The participants will explore colour through walking and collage.
In her work with colour in architecture and environmental colour design, Maja often uses colour mapping to define colour in urban or natural environments. During her recovery after heart surgery, her colour collecting however turned into something different, deeply rooted in a personal and intuitive response, reflecting her emotions, without any design in mind. She started creating reflective, abstract collages she calls Colourscapes.
As she went through the recovery, those daily walks with colour helped her get better and stronger, one day, one walk at a time.
Colourscapes became reflections of the space around her and the space within her, in search of her lost rhythm.
Walking, a fundamental human movement, is easily accessible and yet profoundly impactful on health and well-being.
Creative expression has the magical power to help us deal with stress, emotions, improve our mood, and activate our brain in new ways.
One does not need to be creative to do something creative. Anyone can walk with colour.
